commissioning a portrait

Painting a Portrait From Life/Life and Photos:

For a portrait that is strictly from life, I will need between 4-6 sittings, of 2-3 hours each, preferably  within 4 weeks’ time.  You do not need to have experience as a model to pose for a portrait – we will find a comfortable, natural pose for you, and there will be frequent breaks.  If you have limited time to pose, we can also have just one sitting of 3-4 hours, during which you will pose and I will take photos to work with later on my own (this is how I usually work, due to most people's time constraints). 

Sittings are usually done in my Paris studio, with your choice of clothing or whatever you would like included in your portrait (favorite objects, fabrics, etc).  But I am open to painting your portrait in another environment if you have something very particular in mind.  Also, if you live in a different city but a life portrait is very important to you, I can travel to where you are (travel costs to be included in the final price of the painting). 

 
Painting a Portrait using Photos:
Ideally, we will have at least one 3-hour sitting from life, during which I can take photos to use later.  If that’s not possible, I can easily work from a photo or set of photos you already have.

TIME AND COST

--Time windows vary, but most portraits can be completed within 6-8 weeks' time.

--When the painting is finished, I will email or mail a photograph for your approval. 
(Please note: I usually do not make changes to the portrait once it is finished, unless it is something that I agree needs to be changed.  However, you are under no obligation to buy the final portrait if it is not to your satisfaction.)

-- The finished painting can either be picked up direcly from my studio, or I will  hand-deliver or Fedex it to you.  Shipping costs will be added to the final price of the portrait.
